August Cup 2010 Friday August 27th - Sunday August 29th

The 2010 August Cup tournament is approved and sanctioned by the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA) and United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA).

    Age Groups

  • Challenge Divisions: U9 - U19 boys and girls age groups that now primarily play in the division 2 to division 6 equivalent skill level of travel soccer.
  • Champions Divisions: U13-U19 boys and girls age groups that play in the Division 1 / premier leagues.

    Games

  • Primary venues will be the Maryland SoccerPlex and the Polo Grounds in Poolesville.
  • All teams will play 3 games 50 or 60-minute in length depending on the age bracket.
  • All championship games will be played at the SoccerPlex on Sunday afternoon.
  • Most teams will play two 50 or 60 minute games on Saturday and one game on Sunday morning.
  • Friday and Saturday Night Flight games will be played at the SoccerPlex artifical turf fields. U15 - U19 age groups may have a Friday evening game.
  • First games of the morning will start at 8am on each day.

  • All games are played in accordance with FIFA rules, except as specially modified by Tournament Rules.

  • The application for this tournament will be available around May 15, 2010 on this tournament web site.
  • Application and fees deadline is midnight July 1, 2010.
  • Teams will be notified of acceptance into the tournament no later than July 26th, 2010 .
  • The team registration fees includes all referee fees.

    Registration/check-in

  • Team Registration will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 at the SoccerPlex Discovery Sports Center and on Thurday, August 26th at Wakefield Recreation Park in Northern Virginia. Additional information will be provided on the team manager pages for teams accepted into the tournament
  • Teams are required to present at registration a 2010 - 2011 certified roster, 2010 - 2011 player card for each player with photo, guest player passes, medical release forms for each player and guest player and a state-approved permission to travel form for teams traveling from outside of USYSA Division 1.

    Housing

  • The August Cup does not require usage of a reservation service in conjunction with the tournament. You're on your own to find the best rate possible. The tournament will provide a list of recommended area hotels at have hosted teams in the past and that we've received good reports on. Area room rates start at around $100.00.
  • A link to the housing service will be available off the tournament's main website soon.

    Awards

  • Individual trophies are presented to first place teams in each division.
  • All players will receive tournament patches that will be provided at team registration.
  • The exchange of patches by teams is encouraged, but not required.

    Eligibility

  • The August Cup Tournament is open to competitive-level club and travel teams.
  • This is a United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA) sanctioned tournament through the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association (MSYSA).
  • All teams must be in good standing with their state association. Teams registered with US Club Soccer are welcome to participate in the tournament
